Compliance with Industry Standards
To ensure the productivity and effectiveness of the progress of soap development, the following documents validates each employee in the company. The OSHA regulations and guidelines are displayed through the passing rates of individual quizzes that were administered prior to participation. Please note the Safety Lab Contract is available within the Science Department webpage.

Following the FDA and EPA regulations, it protects the company from having a shutdown in production. The FDA governs the soap regulations while the EPA primarily focuses on the disposal of chemicals.
Cleaning
● All lab equipment must be washed thoroughly and appropriate as instructed.
● The last 7 minutes of all lab endeavors MUST always be reserved for lab cleanup.
Clothing
● Confine long hair during laboratory activities; it is a fire and contamination hazard.
● Secure dangling jewelry and loose or baggy clothing that could get caught on
equipment.
● Roll long sleeves above the wrist. .
● Lab aprons have been provided for your protection and should be worn during laboratory
work.
● Wear appropriate eye protection whenever you are working in the laboratory. Safety
goggles must be worn during hazardous activities involving caustic/corrosive chemicals,
heating of liquids, and other activities that may injure the eyes.
● Splashes and fumes from hazardous chemicals present a special danger to wearers of
contact lenses.
● Employees with open skin wounds on hands must wear gloves.
● Read summarized material safety info of chemicals in use.
General
● Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the laboratory.
● Never work alone; a supervisor must be present during the performance of all laboratory
work.
● Prepare for each laboratory activity by following through with research and preparation
before entering the lab. Follow all regulations implicitly.
● Make a note of all verbal or written modifications made by upper management.
● Know the proper fire and earthquake procedures. In an emergency or drill, containers
must be closed, gas valves turned off, fume hoods turned off, and any electrical
equipment turned off.
● Work areas should be kept clean and tidy at all times.
● To prevent injury from chemical spills, stand (do not sit) at lab stations when using
caustic or hazardous chemicals.
● Know the locations and operating procedures of all safety equipment including the first
aid kit, eyewash station, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, fire alarm, gas shut off, phone,
and exits.
● Eating or drinking, of any kind, is not permitted in the laboratory room at any time

Quality Control Daily Reports
Day 1: Thursday, May 28, 2015
Day 2: Friday, May 29, 2015
Day 4: Tuesday, June 2, 2015
- Went to the different groups and talked about what they should be doing
- Discussed what the engineers and research scientist need to complete
- Asked the marketers what they need to complete
- Gave certain groups deadlines on what needs to be done today
Day 2: Friday, May 29, 2015
- Created the document of who took the safety quiz or not
- Told those who need to retake the quiz again
- Went to the engineers and research scientists to discuss what they need to do
- Research scientists found how different reactants would react
- Got the engineers to start their first soap trial
- Talked to the marketing group to find out what else they need
- Talked to the accounting groups to see if they need to talk to the other groups about the money
- Discussed with Mrs. Henderson on what needs to be done
- Got some people to be on task
- Talked to the people who wanted to be in the lab
- Made them do the safety quiz
- Signed the legal document for the Lawyer
- Watched over the engineers during their experiment
Day 4: Tuesday, June 2, 2015
- Talked to engineers and scientists about the soap trials
- Research scientists and marketing manager tried soap
- Member of engineers is getting supplies to make final product based on results from trials
- Members of engineering and scientists are contributing to the online portfolio as they gathered information on the shared document marketing made the other day
- Final products are still drying
- Short by one more soap mold to reach a pound
- Lawyer sent correct general partnership form to VP and the T-1, T-2, and T-3 forms to marketing to complete
- There was an issue with filling out the pdf forms on the student laptops
- VP allowed marketing to fill out the forms on her laptop
- Once documents are filled out, lawyer will upload and share the filled documents on the online portfolio
- Business department mentioned how most of the online portfolio is filled out via the shared Google document
- Accounting department is adjusting the finances (salaries, expenses, and advertisement costs) with registration form fees.
- Grade A:
- Responsibility of filling out the forms and taking part in the lab experiments with perseverance after trials.
- Capability to be flexible when materials were unavailable is admirable under circumstances.
- 100% passing rate of the Safety Lab Quiz of participants ensures the effectiveness of the soap product.
